Photograph Policy

 
  1. Photographs purchased from the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society and Museum are to be used once only,, as specified in the order form. No further rights are extended with the sale. Purchase of photographic prints for private use or research does not confer rights for any reproduction of images by any meanis, including photocopying. Payment of publication or other use fees is restricted to one use only. Copyright remains with the museum, and subsequent republication, including reprinting or rebroadcast of existing material, must be negotiated with the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society Board and may require payment of additional use fees.
  2. Credit must be given each time an image is published, broadcast, or otherwise displayed. Credit should be give as follows "Photo Courtesy Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum". If credit is given separate from the image, as in a telecast or book appendix, image must be identified by page number, negative number, or image title as appropriate. No image obtained from the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum shall be altered in any way except for proportional croppin for publication without permission in advance from the Board of Trustees of the museum.
  3. One copy of all publications, including periodicals, films, and videotapes,shall be given to Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum at no cost for inclusion in the collection.
  4. All photographic reproduction shall be done or supervised by the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum. No negatives or original photographs will be loaned.
  5. The United States Copyright law authorizes libraries an archives to provid photocopies and reproductions of copyrighted material only under certain specified conditions. Such copies may not be used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research. If a user requests o later uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse any copy order which, in the judgment of museum staff or board, would involve violation of copyright law.
  6. Current fees for photographic reproduction are available at the time of each order, but may vary over time without notice.
